- For the 430 companies in attendance, the fair was an opportunity to grow their business and develop concrete business opportunities;
- For professionals visiting SAIE, it was an opportunity to learn in detail about new product solutions for their work and the latest technical and regulatory updates.
Bologna, October 24, 2022 – For four days, thanks to Fair celebrating design, building and installations, the city of Bologna was the Italian capital of the entire industry chain. Businesses, politics, associations and professionals came together in the event staged at BolognaFiere itself and concluded last Saturday, Oct. 22. Once again this year, the show, which has been organized with a new format by Senaf since 2018, proved its uniqueness in being a time for reflection and discussion, as well as a strong commercial booster for the market. Proving this are the numbers of SAIE 2022: 430 companies, 48 partner associations and, above all, 37,642 visitors, who came to the fair to learn about and evaluate new products, regulations-such as everything revolving around Superbonus and PNRR-and enrich their contact network. Moreover, from October 19 to 21 2023, SAIE will return to Bari, at the Nuova Fiera del Levante, continuing the annual strategic alternation with Bologna, which since 2018 has made two of the most important showcases for the “Made in Italy” construction sector.
SAIE opened its doors with an in-depth analysis of the state-of-the-art supply chain. As shown in Federcostruzioni‘s 2021 Report and Ance‘s analysis presented at the inaugural conference, the construction system had an exceptional 2021: production stood at €475 billion, up by as much as €78 billion compared to 2020 (+19.7 percent), which alone constitutes about a third of Italy’s GDP and involves as much as 12 percent of the national workforce (2.8 million units, up 7.7 percent from 2020). Superbonus-related interventions as of Sept. 30 were 307.191, worth €51 billion (+ €8.2 billion in the last month alone). Now, inflation and high energy prices are worrying businesses, and from the SAIE stage both Federcostruzioni and Ance sent a clear message to the new government: among the priorities of the political agenda must be the implementation of certain mechanisms and structural interventions to push for bonuses and PNRR, in order to encourage the redevelopment of public and private building stock. SAIE also hosted the Ance Emilia Area Centro General Assembly, which included the participation of the mayors of Bologna, Ferrara and Modena and the presentation of Nomisma data on the evolution of residential buying and selling locally.
In addition to institutional events, there are also many concrete opportunities for professionals to keep up-to-date on the latest solutions on the market as well as demonstration areas to see live displays of technical innovations at the fair. SAIE 2022 added 127 educational conferences and 22 special initiatives to the exhibition part, with the presence of the most important brands in the industry. These focused on the main building themes: construction sites, sustainability, energy efficiency, digitalization, building-installation integration and new living needs. Among the events were the Cassa Edile Awards, a panel that rewards companies, workers and labor consultants for their outstanding performance; the final of EdilTrophy, the masonry art tournament organized by FORMEDIL that involves the excellence of building schools in Italy; SAIE InConcrete, the national event dedicated to the innovation of the concrete supply chain, in collaboration with the magazines Ingenio, Imprese Edili and Macchine Edili; the third edition of the Forum Nazionale Massetti e Pavimenti (Screeds and Floors National Forum), organized by Conpaviper in collaboration with Senaf which aims to delve into industrial strategies, market evolution, reference regulations and the latest technological innovations; Piazza (Area) Tunneling SIG – Società Italiana Gallerie, which enhanced the tunneling supply chain, with content and presentation of products, projects and case histories depicting excellence in strategic issues; Piazza (Area) Sismica ISI, the in-depth area entirely dedicated to seismicity, organized and managed in collaboration with ISI – Ingegneria Sismica Italiana and its associates; Piazza Ceramica e Laterizio (ceramic and brickwork area), promoted by Confindustria Ceramica to support the objectives of environmental sustainability associated with aesthetics, inclusion and affordability regarding ceramic products; and lastly, Assobim Digitization Square, the exhibition area dedicated to digitization and BIM, with many technical insights and the participation of sector protagonists coordinated by the Assobim association.
“An edition of SAIE that we are particularly proud of has come to a close. The success of the fair is clear from the satisfaction of the exhibitors and trade associations and the quality of the visiting professionals,” said Emilio Bianchi, Director of SAIE. This year we encountered extraordinary participation. Businesses, institutions and all players in the industry needed to meet, and we are happy that SAIE is determinedly becoming a unique and irreplaceable reference point for the supply chain. Industry professionals have rediscovered the added value of SAIE, a historic event that since 2018, the year Senaf joined as organizer, has included new insights specifically oriented toward the future of building and the development of effective interconnections between design, construction and installations. But we won’t stop there. We want to be close to the entire Italian construction manufacturing sector, from North to South. That’s why we’ll return to Bari next year, with the goal of continuing to better support the industry at a time when sustainability, innovation and education have become absolute imperatives for growth. We would like to thank all the exhibitors and associations that collaborated in the success of SAIE, including Federcostruzioni, Ance, Ance Emilia Centro, Ance Bari BAT, CNCE and FORMEDIL who, with the return of Ediltrophy, confirmed that at the live fair it’s exciting!”
